How do chiropractic treatments work?

Your body has a powerful self-healing ability. The body's structure (with the spine in a central role) and its function are closely related and this relationship affects health. Therapy aims to normalize this relationship between structure and function and assist the body as it heals.

Your nerves transmit messages and sensations from the brain to all parts of the body. Spinal pressure can cause a variety of ailments. Chiropractic treatment can relieve nervous disorders by spinal adjustment, releasing pressure to permit normal nerve activity.

What kind of treatments does the chiropractor give?

A chiropractic treatment consists of manipulation of the spinal column and/or extremities to relieve the pressure on the nerves, which are causing pain or impairment of normal body functions. A chiropractic adjustment is another word for manipulation.

Other Treatments Include:

  • Acupressure
  • Hernia Treatment
  • Occupational Medicine
  • Outpatient Care
  • Pain Management
  • Physical Therapy
  • Post-Op Care
  • Posture Screening
  • Skin Treatment
  • Spinal Care
  • Spinal Exams

Foot adjustment
What kind of physical therapy is performed in the office?

Larry E. Barrett DC gives a manual chiropractic manipulation to the affected part of the body as needed to correct misalignments.

What's your approach for sports injuries?

Specific stabilizing techniques, exercises and stretches are often a component of treatment for sports injuries.

What type of symptoms does the chiropractor treat?

Larry E. Barrett DC treats a multitude of symptoms. There are many more symptoms and conditions that chiropractic treatment can help than are listed here.

Here is a List of Just a Few:

  • Carpel Tunnel
  • Chest Pain
  • Chronic Back Pain
  • Chronic Neck Pain
  • Degeneration
  • Disc Problems
  • Dizziness
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Headaches
  • Sciatica

Will the adjustment hurt?

Most patients feel an immediate relief once the bone is moved off the nerve that it is pinching but different patients have different pain thresholds. Some patients use therapies like ice or heat prior to the chiropractic adjustment to loosen up the surrounding muscles and assist in making the adjustment more comfortable.

Do you treat auto accidents or work injuries?

Yes, we do treat victims of auto accidents, work injuries and also sports injuries or any other type of traumatic injury.

Do you work on children and the elderly?

Larry E. Barrett DC has many patients who are infants, children and the elderly. Elderly patients particularly appreciate relief from their aches and pains.

Do I have to have x-rays?

X-rays are only taken if necessary. Usually a patient does not need x-rays unless there has been a trauma and is done only after consultation with the chiropractor and a review of the patient's personal history.

Are there any former patients I can contact about your services?

Larry E. Barrett DC has treated hundreds of patients since 1989. Patients have received relief from their original symptoms and now come in regularly to maintain excellent health. Most of our patients learned about us from other patients.
